A tecnologia ajuda a uma melhor qualidade de vida

Está a decorrer em Barcelona, o "World Congress of Cardiology - 2006". No âmbito deste evento, lemos aqui, que "Medtronic Inc's Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) is equally effective for heart patients whether or not they have diabetes, researchers said on Sunday".

A
Medtronic é uma das empresas que mais tem investido nas novas tecnologias da saúde. De entre as várias novas tecnologias, a Medtronic desenvolveu a "Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy".

Vemos
aqui, que "Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) is a proven treatment for selected patients with heart failure-induced conduction disturbances and ventricular dyssynchrony. When used in combination with stable, optimal medical therapy, CRT is designed to reduce symptoms and improve cardiac function by restoring the mechanical sequence of ventricular activation and contraction".

Voltando às novidades apresentadas no
Congresso de Barcelona, lemos isto, "With these new data, we now have proof that CRT is beneficial in heart failure patients with different co-morbidities, including those at risk of sudden cardiac death and patients with diabetes". E que "The latest data showed that CRT decreased the risk of heart-failure death by 45 percent and sudden cardiac death by 53 percent".

A tecnologia é nossa amiga.
