Ou seja, a saúde é a indústria mais importante do mundo, mesmo na maior economia do mundo. Contudo, este mesmo país, apresenta demasiadas fragilidades para um país que investe tanto dinheiro em saúde, quando se refere "America has built the world's highest-tech medical system, yet the nation ranks 46th in life expectancy (behind Japan, Singapore, Canada and virtually all of Europe and Scandinavia)". Mas conclui que, "Even as scientists explore the frontiers of biomedicine, they keep confirming the truism that health is easier to preserve than it is to repair". Ou seja, a tecnologia é importante, mas a prevenção continua a ser a melhor defesa.
