Last year’s economic slowdown caused a 17 percent drop in plastic surgeries, according to a survey by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Demand for non-invasive procedures such as Botox injections remained fairly steady, dropping less than 1 percent. For both types of procedures combined, the overall decline was 2 percent. For the second year in a row, the No. 1 surgical treatment was breast augmentation, with an estimated 312,000 procedures last year, followed by liposuction, at 284,000.
